Cavalieri Confident Fluminense Will Bounce Back
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri has stated that he is confident that his current team Fluminense will be able to overcome the first league defeat against Horizonte. The two teams came up against each other in the Copa do Brasil match. This was the first round of the competition, but Fluminense suffered a major setback after losing the match 3-1. Despite this, Cavalieri, who is believed to be on the fringes of the national team, says that he is confident of recovery in the second leg. Fluminense will have everything to do in this match since it will be at home as well
.
Cavalieri has represented the national team three times in his career, but he will be hoping that a good performance in this season’s competitions will help him make it into the Brazil squad for 2014. Luiz Felipe Scolari is still contemplating about a recall for former Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who recently moved to MLS with Toronto. Since the Brazilian league is considered to be much more quality than the MLS, a good performance in the upcoming few months will definitely help persuade Scolari to utilise Cavalieri for the upcoming tournament.
The former Liverpool man has been with Fluminense since 2011. As one of the experienced players in the squad, coach Cristovao Borges will be turning towards the goalkeeper for inspiration.
“Our only thought is to fight for a positive result. Our focus is on this game. We are working to make a good presentation. If not, we endure the consequences against a tough opponent. We have to get the goal difference. We know that rankings will give us calm and a good environment to work in,” said the goalkeeper. The next match of Fluminense will be at home against Volta Redonda in the Carioca on Monday night.
