Brazilian state championships startup is Exciting
The Brazilian state championships have just begun but Fluminense are already looking on course to title success this time around.
They have managed four consecutive victories and it has put them top of the table with a two-point advantage over Flamengo. Their goalkeeper, Diego Cavalieri, has featured in all of these four matches.
He says that it is a fantastic start by the team and one that will give them title success at the end of the campaign. Cavalieriwas speaking after his team not only kept a clean sheet but also recorded a 3-0 win over Boavista.
Lucas Gomes, Fred, and Jean were the scorers on the night and this current run of form sees the club in a good position for the upcoming months. Cavalieri says that the victories have already given a lot of confidence to the team and that they are only hoping to build on the success. This good run of form helps the club overcome the disappointment of a poor Brazilian Serie A season last time around. A run of just two wins in the last five matches saw Fluminense finish outside the top four and they will be without Copa Libertadores football for this campaign. Fred was last season’s top scorer in the Serie A with 18 goals.
“We know the importance of adding points are 15 rounds to classification. We know that the top positions give advantage in the final. The total number of points, more tranquility. It is only the beginning, only the third game. This gives us confidence, moral. We will evolve looking for, we have a lot to improve, present defects, but all okay. It’s start to the season, our team is structured. These victories show that the path is right, that Christopher does an excellent job. The tendency is to evolve,” said the former Liverpool goalkeeper.
