Diego Cavalieri won the first of his three trophies with the Brazilian national team at the u-17 level. The shot stopper was a part of the Brazil team that won a second World Cup title at the 1999 FIFA u-17 World Cup tournament in New Zealand.
Brazil won the 1999 FIFA u-17 World Cup tournament by beating Australia in the final, while Ghana and the United States of America had to settle for third and fourth respectively. Diego Cavalieri was in the Brazilian squad that defeated Australia on penalties to win the tournament in New Zealand after the two teams had settled for a goalless draw. Brazil won 8-7 on penalties to emerge as champions.
Diego Cavalieri won his second trophy as a part of the Brazilian national team at senior level. He was part of the Brazil team that beat Argentina on penalties to win the 2012 edition of the Superclasico de las America. It was the second edition of the competition featuring Brazil and Argentina.
In the first leg, Paulinho and Neymar scored as Brazil came from a goal down to beat Argentina 2-1. The Argentines returned the favour in the second leg with Ignacio Scocco finding the back of the net twice, while striker Fred scored the lone Brazil goal in a 2-1 defeat for the five-time champions. To this effect, the two teams played out a 3-3 draw over two legs before Brazil won 4-3 on penalties. Diego Cavalieri was the Brazil goalkeeper for the starting XI as far as the second leg is concerned. He was in goal for the dreaded penalty shootout.
Diego Cavalieri was part of the Brazil squad for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup as he won his third title with his nation. He was in the Brazilian squad which defeated Spain 3-0 in the final thanks to the brace from striker Fred in addition to the goal from Neymar.
